First elected to Congress, representing the Sixth District of Georgia, in November 2004, Congressman Tom Price has been re-elected with broad support. He serves on the Ways and Means Committee as well as the Budget Committee. Price has been an outspoken advocate for patient-centered health care reform in Washington. His signature legislation, the Empowering Patients First Act, would bring about positive changes to provide access for all Americans to affordable, quality health care. He was also elected by his colleagues to serve as Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee during the 112th Congress. Envisioned as the principal forum for the consideration of forward-looking legislative initiatives, the Republican Policy Committee is an important means for every Member of the Republican Conference to develop sound legislative ideas into meaningful legislation. Before coming to Congress, Price was Medical Director of the Orthopaedic Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, teaching resident doctors in training.
